What’s on Stage in MI Great Lakes Bay



Hi there! Hope all of you have had a wonderful weekend in MI Great Lakes Bay. For those who love musicals, we are excited to bring this good news to you: the Tony-Award-nominated Broadway musical: [title of show] An Original Musical is going to perform at the Midland Center for the Arts (MCFTA) on September 27 – 29! Meanwhile, the Whistling Idiots Comedy Dinner Theatre in Bay City is going to start its second season with a production of Jeff Daniel’s Yooper tale “Escanaba in Da Moonlight” this week, and the former Saturday Night Live comedian, Jim Breuer, is coming to Saginaw's Temple Theatre on September 27.

The [title of show] records its own creation as an entry in a musical festival. The musical is about two musical devotees, Hunter and Jeff, decided to write an original musical as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, even if there’s only 3 weeks left to write a full show! The [title of show] ran off-Broadway in 2006 and eventually played at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre in 2008. Hunter Bell (book) and Jeff Bowen (music/lyrics) both won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production, and Bell was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.

Escanaba in da Moonlight

Date: September, 28-29; October, 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27; November, 2-3.
Location: Whistling Idiots Comedy Dinner Theatre (701 North Van Buren St., Bay City)

When the Soady clan reunites for the opening day of deer season at the family's Upper Peninsula camp, 38-year-old Reuben Soady brings with him the infamous reputation of being the oldest Soady in the history of the Soadys never to bag a buck. In a hunting story to beat all hunting stories, Escanaba in Da Moonlight spins a hilarious tale of humor, horror and heart as Reuben goes to any and all lengths to remove himself from the wrong end of the family record book.

The Escanaba in da Moonlight is going to start its second season at the Whistling Idiots Comedy Dinner Theatre in Bay City. The ticket of the show costs $35, including the play and a buffet dinner catered by Morning at Maggie's. A cash bar begins at 5:15 pm, dinner at 6:30 pm and the play begins at 7:30 pm

Jim Breuer Comedy Show
