Date: Now to Apr. 14
Location: Frankenmuth
Once a year in the area of Franconia Germany one will find
many wells, trees, buildings and fountains richly decorated with colored Easter
eggs, pine-branch garland and spring flowers. The tradition of decorating
Easter Fountains in Germany is over 200 years old, and many cities and villages
in Franconia Germany still follow this tradition.
Since Franconia is the area from which the early settlers
originated, Frankenmuth mirror the Osterbrunnen tradition in the city. While
enjoying the decorations in our Little Bavaria, be sure to join some
events during Osterbrunnen such as Easter Bunny Visits Bronner's CHRISTmasWonderland, Bavarian Inn Restaurant Scrapbook Weekend. For more event
information, visit Frankenmuth website.
An Afternoon at Sugarhouse
Date: March 23, 24, 30, 31, 1:30-4:30 pm
Location: Chippewa Nature Center
Are you a fan of maple syrup? Do you know or have you ever
watched how is maple syrup made? Chippewa Nature Center provides a good place
to show you how to make maple syrup.
You will visit the Beech-Maple woods, where buckets decorate trees and where, on warm days, you can hear the sap
dripping into buckets. You will watch
the steam rise off the evaporator pan in the sugarhouse as the sap is boiled
down to make sweet maple syrup. An interpreter will be on hand to explain the
whole process.
For more information, visit Chippewa Nature Center website.
